Wrestlers call off their protest after second meeting with Anurag Thakur
After their second meeting with Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, Indian wrestlers decided to end their protest at Jantar Mantar. According to wrestler, Bajrang Punia, Thakur promised to take action against the Wrestling Federation of India and its Chairperson.
Since Wednesday, wrestlers have been protesting against WFI President, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who they claim has harassed female wrestlers. The claims have been refuted by Mr. Singh.
WFI president will step aside from his position for four weeks during which IOA formed seven-member committee will investigate the allegations. The committee was formed after the wrestlers requested president PT Usha seeking strict action.
