The UT Administration set the target on September 20 last year to have 100 charging stations for electric vehicles by the time period of 2 years.
There has been a setup of 23 public charging stations in Chandigarh out of 37 but are not operational till now.
Also the administration has claimed that they will set up 44 new charging stations from May 16.
Debendra Dalai, Chief Executive Officer, Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science and Technology Promotion Society (CREST) which is a nodal agency for implementation of Electric Vehicle Policy said that the work will begin on 4 site which is multilevel parking in Sector 17, Elante mall parking, parking area of 44D market and Manimajra car bazaar.
The setup of 23 charging vehicles will be operational by the end of the month. The fixed tariff charge decided by the administration for slow and moderate charging is Rs. 8 per unit, for fast charging is Rs. 10 per unit and for battery swapping is Rs. 11 per unit.
