Panjab University Alumni Association, Departments of PU & affiliated colleges and regional centres conjointly organised the Global Alumi Meet at Law Department, PU today. This was the third consecutive year in which the meet was held.
Friday, 4th November marked the beginning of this 2 day event which was graced by the presence of The Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankar as the Chief guest and PU's Vice Chancellor. VP Dhankar in his addressal mentioned how the alumni, as the roots play a crucial role and are a source of enlightenment and motivation for any institution's upcoming generations. He also mentioned that PU holds great potential and should continue to strive for global recognition.
Other well known faces were also seen around the campus for the event like Banwarilal Purohit, Punjab Governor and UT administrator, Som Parkash, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, and Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Punjab Education Minister.
PU's oldest alumni present at the age of 97, was Sardar Narender Singh Swaraj, graduated LLB from Government Law College, Lahore that was affiliated to Panjab University at that time. It was so heartfelt to have him and he was honoured for his presence at the meet.
Other alumini interacted and highlighted their takeaways and lessons they learnt while studying in PU that helped them be successful grown up individuals. Ashwani Kumar graduated from Department of Zoology; Now, Director at ICMR-Vector Control Research mentioned how he's grateful to the institution for the grooming of his personality and communication skills outside of academia. Sunny Guglani graduated from UIET in 2006, who is presently the head of Airbus helicopters for Indian and South Asia region focused on the sense of patriotism, the amount of optimism and self confidence he gained as a student here.
The two day alumni meet will continue tomorrow and is yet to witness more nostalgic and motivational stories from the past as well as present.
