Tricity to finally welcome Metro, Metro project approved.

Today, the plan for the tricity to have metro service has been given green flags during the meeting of representatives of Punjab Haryana and Chandigarh.

The meeting was conducted with the agenda to discuss RITES report that proposed a Mass Rapid Transit System spread across tricity, plan to adjust traffic in the region

The RITES proposed that the first phase of the Metro system would consist of three corridors in Chandigarh, out of the total 39.2 km proposed, 16 km may be underground, while the remaining elevated.

Alternate routes for the Metro project were suggested by for traffic management in the tricity, such as Housing Board Chowk to Panjab University and PGIMER and Chandigarh airport.
