To maintain law and order during the New Year celebrations, Chandigarh Police issues guidelines

As New Year's round the corner, the atmosphere is soon going to be full of joy, enthusiasm and parties with huge traffic on roads.Keeping this in mind, Chandigarh Police Administration recently issued guidelines for the easy management of traffic on 31st December'22. These advisories include closing certain roads, diverting traffic one way, increasing the number of policemen on duty and putting up check posts for controlling drink and drive cases.

The advisory announces that Sector 7, 8, 9, 10, 17 inner market road, road in front of Museum and Art Gallery Sector 10 and the road from the Aroma light point to dispensary Sector 22 will be closed. The road in front of elante will be converted to a one way road. It has also been advised to park vehicles only in parking spaces.

Apart from this, the cold weather and dense fog along with reckless behavior of drivers can be a fatal combination. Also, till now, around 18 people have been found to be drunk and driving. To counter this, many check posts will be set up for controlling such cases. Surprise checking of vehicles will be done and any defaulters will be strictly punished.
