Teaching and non teaching staff of private- government aided colleges goes on indefinite protest from 1st February 2023.
The first day's protest was held in DAV College, sector 10. The Joint action committee held a meeting on 27th January at DAV College, and informed that due to delay in revised pay scales under UGC regulations a meeting was arranged on 31st January, 2023. As an outcome to negligence of the administration, committee decided to hold " TOTAL EDUCATION BANDH" and also formulated the schedule of agitation. Today, on 2nd Feb the protest will be held at MCM College for Women, Sector 36.
The teaching and non teaching staff raised their voice against implementation of 7th pay commission and all the benefits and allowances like medical allowance, LTC as per central pattern and revised pay scales to non-teaching staff.
The first day protest at DAV College, included more than 400 teachers, 200 students from Chandigarh colleges.The senators of Panjab University also supported them. Dr. Sumit Goklaney, president, DAVCTU claimed that they will continue their protests till the time their demands are not fulfilled. He also warned to intensify the protest if the administration failed to acknowledge their legitimate demands. These dharnas were labelled as just the beginning of protest by Joint action committee and warned that if their issues are not sorted out then they will be forced to launch a huge protest.
