Sukhbir Badal demands for a Sikh academician to be the next VC of Panjab University
In a tweet, Sukhbir Singh Badal, President of Shrimoni Akali Dal appraised the Vice President or India (also the Chancellor of Panjab University) of the fact that no Sikh member has been the Vice Chancellor of PU since 1947. He added that the lack of sikh senate , academic and admin members is a symbol as communal injustice & discrimination. He mentioned that there are only 2 sikh faces out of 36 senate members and even no sikh face in the 14 important posts of Panjab University including DUI, DSW, Register etc.
Further, he said that since none of Haryana’s and Himachal’s colleges are now associated with Panjab University, the fulfilment of the empty Vice Chancellor post should be done by a Sikh face.
