Three University professors, namely Sanjeev Gautam, Navdeep Goyal and Harish Kumar, were issued show-cause notices and were asked to submit responses within 7 days. According to the teachers, they received offers from 2 industries on their ongoing projects of reviving the energy sectors with renewable alternatives.
The University too had granted the permission initially after following the process and procedure to travel for the corporate social responsibility project. The teachers presented sufficient points to justify the direct benefits the university and students will get from this.
The administration said that the decision the issue the notices were taken in the syndicate meeting. The officials said that the teachers were informed that their permission has been withheld by the authorities but by then the teachers had already left.
Meanwhile, Panjab University Teacher's Association (PUTA) has raised there voice against the notice and condemned the actions of the authorities by writing to the PU Chancellor Jagdeep Dhankar and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar.
