Recently, both Maulana Azad National Fellowship (MANF) and Pre Matric Scholarship (PMS) for Minorities and SCs/STs/OBCs respectively were scrapped by government on the pretext of it being overlapped with other scholarships. But the protest leaders claimed that it is a part of privatization and saffronisation agenda of BJP - RSS.
Some research scholars also criticised BJP government for this.The opposition was on the context that soon all the fellowship will come to a halt because NEP 2020 proposed replacement of Scholarship with loan by dismantling UGC. They demanded immediate restoration of policies. The protest was joined by SATH and PSU (L) both.
