After a long struggle and the highlighting of the issue in media reports, Panjab University has finally allowed entry to the students into the university campus 24x7 from Gate no.3 on showing ID card.
This announcement by the university authorities has brought a great relief to the students of South Campus who earlier had to face a lot of difficulties to go to the A.C. Joshi library for study at night as the gate used to close at 9pm.
There are girls hostels in south campus and it was very typical for girl students if they have to come to the library through their vehicle. They have to use the outside road which raises questions about their safety.
PU Pulse also raised this issue and highlighted the problems that students are facing. After that many students and political parties came in support of that and struggled about that .
Earlier, NSUI PU also protested against it. "Authorities make us assure that for two wheelers, a small gate will be opened and for cars, students have to show id cards. If anyone faces any difficulty they can contact us anytime" said Harkirat Singh, former President, Evening Department PU.
Stay tuned for further updates.
