Ramdev now 'fails' in Soan Papdi test too; 3 Patanjali employees sentenced to jail
Amidst the serious blow for misleading advertisements, the renowned Ayurvedic company, Patanjali was again hauled up by Chief Judicial Magistrate of Pithoragarh as it sent 3 people including the Assistant Manager to prison. In addition, fines were levied on Patanjali for its poor quality of Soan Papdi.
Previously, in 2019, a complaint was registered for Navratna Cardamom Soan Papdi, one of the bestsellers of Patanjali, being sold at the Leela Dhar Pathak's shop in the main market of Berinag located in Pithoragarh after which detailed investigation was initiated by Food Safety Inspector, thus collecting samples and issuing subsequent notices to Kanha Ji Distributor, Ramnagar and Patanjali Ayurveda Limited, Haridwar.
After the tests conducted at State Food and Drug Testing Lab in Rudrapur, Udham Singh Nagar, several defects were detected in the items. Revealing the reports to the court, the judiciary took stringent actions by ordering imprisonment of Leela Dhar Pathak, Patanjali Assistant Manager Abhishek Kumar and others for 6 months. A bulky amount of 40,000 has been charged collectively from the accused.
