Punjab police takes strict action against Pro Khalistani Protestors, Bullet proof tractors arranged in Mohali
Punjab Police has arranged bullet proof tractors after the police-protester violence that occurred recently. In 2017, expenditure of Rs. 47 crore was incurred for the preparation of such tractors along with 24 bullet proof scorpios mainly to deal with terrorism. Punjab Police has taken this step after the violent action on 8 February in which 22 police officers got wounded out of which 7 were women officers. An FIR has been registered against the people responsible.
Punjab Police informed that 12 Pro Khalistani groups have been protesting at the Chandigarh- Mohali barrier since 7th January. The tractors have been brought to the place of protest. This is the first time these tractors have been used in a city for such a cause.
Protestors have been demanding to release the sikh prisoners. After denial by the police officers to enter, the situation got heated up when protestors violently started attacking with swords. Police had to initiate the barton charge to maintain peace and control the situation.
