Government Schools to run in double shifts owing to lack of infrastruct

The Punjab Education Department has taken a step to run the government schools of the state in two shifts as the number of students in Government Schools is increasing, but there is a lack of sufficient infrastructure.

During summers, the morning shift is decided to be from 7 am to 12 pm while the schools will be functioning in afternoon shift from 12.30 pm to 5.30 pm. While for winters, the morning shift will be from 7.30 am to 12.30 pm and evening shift will be from 12.30 pm to 5.15 pm.

According to the letter sent to the various officials, the department stated that there had been many requests to address the issue and run the schools in double shift. In the same letter, it was further instructed that the schools having a lack of infrastructure but a large number of students, will be functioning in double shifts. For the institutions having primary and middle schools running at the same place, the decision regarding double shifts will be followed after suggestions from both school principals.
