Today, first online mid-semester exams with on cameras were conducted by Dr Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering(Dr SSBUICET), Panjab University, Chandigarh. The conduction of exams really went very well.
Toeing the new normal and playing safe, Dr SSBUICET conducted a mammoth exercise of conducting online exams (with cameras) for its 600 odd students, creating a first for PU, Chandigarh.
Earlier, the department issued some guidelines regarding the purchasing of laptops and flawless internet connection but after that PU Pulse raised the issue faced by students and brought this issue to light, resultingly the department had to make the needed changes in its guidelines.
Virtual duties were assigned for all faculty members who were initially trained rigorously over many days. Three sets of question papers were set to minimize repetition and check any kind of copying. A team led by Chairperson Prof Amrit Toor took up the herculean task of convincing the students to take up this challenge and adhering to carefully designed SOPs.
Now, exams for all subjects will be conducted over a period of 5 days in multiple sessions as decided.
"The first day today went without any hurdles and exams were conducted smoothly. I congratulate my team for this new experiment", said Chairperson.
