Ever since the AAP Government has been elected in Punjab , the Government and the Governor have been at loggerheads.
Both of them have been struggling for power, they have disagreed on measures including steps taken concerning the drug problem, the appointment of vice-chancellors, and the convening of special assembly sessions.
Lately , the Governor has been writing letters to the Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann seeking information to which the CM hasn't responded. Also the governor accused Mann of passing derogatory remarks against him and exhibiting disgrace .
The governor further warned if his queries remain unanswered, he will be left with no option but to send a report to President of India under Article 356 about failure of constitutional mechanism and take a decision about initiating criminal proceedings under the Section 124 .
Strongly hitting back at the governor's warning, CM Mann issued a statement saying , " Don't try to test patience of Punjabis ." He also said that the governor is deliberately threatening Punjabis and is making fun of the mandate given by them. Is such display of tensions between the two most important stakeholders of a state justified, we must not forget that Punjab being a border state has its own safety issues, and in such a scenario turbulence of any kind in the administration can prove detrimental for not only the state but also the country as whole.
