Panjab University's Double Trouble: Elections and Exams clash
Panjab University is facing challenges as it gets ready for exams during the upcoming elections in Haryana, Chandigarh, and Punjab. This is the first time the exam schedule overlaps with election dates, causing issues.
Notifications from the Punjab government require staff to stay at polling stations until voting ends, making it hard for the university to manage exams smoothly. With 290 exam centers and 202 colleges in Punjab, meeting this requirement is tough. The university plans to talk to the election commission to allow some staff to leave polling stations to ensure exams run well. The exam timetable has been shortened to May 1-30 from the initial end date of June 7 to accommodate potential use of college facilities for elections.
This adjustment raises concerns about exam clashes especially with CA exams happening from May 2 to May 17. University officials assure they are working to prevent scheduling conflicts and will make alternative arrangements if needed.
