The PU registrar and chairperson of the committee formed for managing the outfits issued the notice regarding it. There will be different costumes for males and females including all the undergraduate and post graduate toppers ,PhD degree awardees, the syndics, senators and other fellows. This came as a result of failure in adoption of traditional Indian attire for the last two convocations.

However, in the previous senate meeting senator Davesh Moudgil had highlighted that no progress was made by the committee set up regarding the traditional attire for the last two convocations. Moudgil, showed up for the convocation in Indian attire as a protest and criticised the authorities for not coming up with any update in academic costume consecutively for two times.

Moreover, according to the meetings held on 23 and 26 February committee also thought of introducing Nehru jacket and stolls for PU senator and awardees. But the main issue came up with a free size garment, which cannot be done with Nehru jacket. The colours for the costume are specified in the PU calendar which would be carried for the new costume.

This change will first have to be accepted by the regulation committee, and after that, the senate’s approval. Designs can be submitted through e-mail at regr@pu.ac.in on or before May 20 till 5.00 pm.
