On 27th of February, Gold wings Jewellers shop, sector 26 witnessed a short circuit which led to a massive fire. The basement was completely burnt in the fire following which the fire brigade was called to control it. After two days now, the fire and emergency department of Chandigarh has now successfully controlled the flames and smoke after two days.
The senior MC officials of Chandigarh have asked for a detailed report for the incident from fire officers of the concerned area. Considering the report, required actions will be taken. It has been reported that fire fighting systems were lacking in the godown and moreover, inflammable material was kept and dumped inside the building . Everything will be cleared once the detailed report is prepared, sources revealed.
Mayor Anup Gupta and deputy mayor Dalip Sharma and all the senior and concerned fire officers of the Municipal corporation, Chandigarh visited the site in sector 26, Chandigarh today. An appeal for Fire no Objection to Market Welfare Association has been done to keep the buildings safe.
