Neeraj Chopra wins first silver medal & second overall for India at World Athletics Championship


After securing a prestigious gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, India’s Neeraj Chopra achieves another historical feat as he won silver medal in javelin throw at World Athletics Championship 2022 in USA, with a throw of 88.13m.


This is India’s second ever medal at the Championships as long jumper Anju Bobby George won a bronze medal at Paris in 2003. Moreover, it is also the first silver medal for India in the competition.


Neeraj was only behind Anderson Peters throw of 90.54m, the reigning champion who retained gold medal at the Championships. Olympic silver medallist Jakub Vadlejch won bronze medal with 88.09m throw.
