With the election date locked, the campaigning of contesting parties has suddenly gained momentum, amidst leaders changing the colour of their stickers and some launching their own parties, another prevalent trend of elections is back in game, the game of money power and freebies.
We all have heard of the common Hindi phrase, " Jb ghee seedhe ungli se naa nikle toh ungli teddhi kr leni chahiye", looks like the party leaders are now counting on this method to win the upcoming elections, with hardly 10 days left for the elections, most of parties are still remain left with releasing of menifesto.
In all this confusion, the so called student leaders committed for the welfare of the students have decided to take care of the students in a different way
What's the point of thinking about welfare , when you can provide them with entertainment?, why to think about their future, when they are happy with instant pleasures?, why to invest your time in convincing them with logic when you convince them by money?, why to give a chance to a deserving candidate, when one with a popular ideology and huge amount of money, can be the magnet for votes?
These questions highlight the grim yet true conditions of the PUCSC elections, where neither the students not the leaders are interested in welfare of their second home, Panjab University, leaders are interested in power, while the students are interested in making political links and exploiting each for their own benefits.
And yet one of the most unfortunate fact in all this is that, even if someone tries to think about the welfare of this place with utmost dedication and honesty, he/she is rejected either because of lack of money or no political backing.
We can't just blame the parties for degrading the very essence of PUCSC elections, because the students are equally responsible for strengthening this evil trend
