As Residents of Sector 7 have long been complaining about the nuisance caused y night clubs in sector 7, Chandigarh. Despite complaints and pleas made by the residents and violations of guidelines set by Punjab and Haryana, the night clubs continued to play music beyond the permissible sound limit.
In response to these complaints, the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM, East), Nitish Singla, ordered a committee to check the sound levels of the night clubs of Chandigarh and found that two clubs were indeed violating the permissible sound limits.
Despite being directed to desist from playing loud music, the night clubs failed to comply, leading to the SDM (East) ordering the police to register two separate cases against the clubs Grapho 07 and The Vault under Section 15 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, and sections 5 and 6 of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules at the Sector-26 police station.
The owners of the night clubs of The Vault and Grapho 07, have been booked by the UT police for their actions.
This incident highlights the ongoing issue of loud music at night clubs and the need for stricter enforcement of sound limits to ensure the peace and well-being of residents living in the vicinity.
