After Department Of Biotechnology, PU, now its University Institute of Engineering and Technology that's facing criticism after circulating the notice regarding exams of 7th Semester students from January 8 with proctoring through Google Meet. Those students who are on training can give exams in Semester 8.
However it was Pulse impact that biotechnology department has postponed all the exams and teachers also asked the students to shut down the cameras. But now UIET PU department is doing the same.
Amid ongoing protest of teachers and increasing COVID-19 cases, facing mental stress, it is extremely difficult for some students to manage the internet services for continuously 3 hours especially on an app like Google Meet which is not even suitable for online classes.
It seems that earlier Panjab University, Chandigarh made a hype of proctoring system but department didn't listen it carefully when University mentioned that image proctoring system they wanted to bring in works on slow internets too and at that time situation of Covid-19 was too under control. Now it's neither on any software demanding low internet usage or ready to work on slow internet too, nor the COVID-19 situation is under control.
PU Pulse urges the authorities to look into this matter and atleast take some decision which is in favour of students
