The Punjab Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) sent a summon to Sukhbir Singh Badal to appear in person carrying all the relevant records for the Kotakpura Firing Case that happened back in 2015. The summon states an appearance to be made on 30th August, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Punjab Police Officers Institute in Sector 32, Chandigarh.
Sukhbir Singh Badal was the home minister when the firing took place. Previous summons dated 18th August were not recieved by Badal due to his absence from the country leading to a another postponed summon.
The aforementioned case dates back to 14th October, 2015 when arpund 6000 protesters had orchestrated a peaceful sit-in protest which had escalated into a lathi charge by the police, to scatter the crowd, leading to the death of 2 protesters in the firing.
