Even though India and Pakistan are two nations that never seem to see eye-to-eye, a cricket match between the countries is set to unite a hopeful grandfather with his granddaughter.
Samiya, the daughter of Liyakat Khan, a retired officer from Haryana, married Pakistani cricketer Hasan Ali in 2019 in Dubai, and has been living in Dubai since 2017. The couple had their first child in 2021.
Even though Liyakat Khan's wife visited Samiya when she was expecting the child, it remained only a distant dream for him. Now, as the preparations for the World Cup have started and Samiya will accompany her cricketer husband to India with their daughter, everything has come to life for Khan, who is over the moon to see his granddaughter.
The World Cup is set to begin on October 5 while India will play their first match on October 8 against Australia. The match between India and Pakistan will be held on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
