The devbhoomi has seen significant damage this rainy season as at least 71 people reported to be dead and ₹75,000 crore worth of damage has been reported.
The rainfall in August has turned against Devbhoomi as a significant loss in life, infrastructure and damages to houses have been reported. 1,762 houses have been fully damaged, while 8,952 houses have reported partial damage.
The loss is also witnessed by the education sector as all the teaching activities and PG exams were disrupted.
The exact extent of damage is yet to be calculated as the situation in Himachal is dire. With the Himachal government appealing to the Centre to declare it as national calamity. 742mm of rainfall has been recorded this year which is above the typical 730mm rainfall.
