On Saturday, Dr Neelima Dhingra,Assistant Professor, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University, Chandigarh was awarded with “Sarvshretha Divyangjan” Award 2022 by Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Honorable President of India. The award coincides with International disability day being observed on December 3.
Dr Neelima was selected for this award by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, under the Dept. of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities , for her outstanding achievements in the field of education, research & extra co-curricular contributions.
The award carries a citation, a medal, and cash reward of Rs 2 lacs.
Dr. Neelima Dhingra completed her post-graduation & Ph.D in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from UIPS, Panjab University. She pursued her career in academics by joining her 'Alma mater' in 2012, followed by which she also took over as the Co-coordinator, Equal opportunity cell for people with disabilities (EoC-PwD) in 2019.
Dr. Neelima has highly contributed through her research in the field of molecular biology and pharmacology of hormone dependent cancer studies. Her creativity in research work has been recognized with 60 scientific articles, 2 US, 2 European and 4 National patents, 2 books, and 5 book chapters. She has been awarded with a number of renowned awards including Mother Teresa Gold Medal Award, Indira Vasudevan Award and DSTYoung Scientist Award. She also brought government funded projects worth Rs 1 crores to UIPS.
