DAV girls bag three gold medals in shooting, at FISU World University Games 2023, in Chengdu, China on the opening day.
The opening day of FISU World University Games has proved India to be high on a medal rush. The country, has already added three golds and a bronze to its name.
Adding to the glory of her name, shooter and youth olympian, Manu Bhaker contributed two golds- one each in individual and team 10M Air Pistol. Manu Bhaker, is a youth olympian who has also represented India at the 2018 ISSF World Cup and is the youngest Indian to win two gold medals at the world cup.
She is a student of MA 2 (Public Administration) at DAV College of Sector 10, Chandigarh, which is affiliated with Panjab University. For the team event, she partnered with Yashaswani Singh Deswal of the same college, and Abhidnya Patil, beating China and Iran, who won silver and bronze medals respectively.
Adding on to the list of medals, Former World No. 1, Elavenil Valarivan, won a gold medal in the women’s 10m air rifle event while Judoka Yamini Mourya won a Bronze Medal in the 57 KG Judo Event.
The FISU World University Games, is one of the largest multi sports events in the world. Truly, the girls have proved at an international level, that India’s girls are not less than anyone, and we are proud of them.
