"Breaking the Silence: Addressing the shameful incident of sexual harassment at PAU"
In a recent shocking incident, a girl from Punjab Agricultural University accused two of her professors of sexual harassment. About three weeks ago professors R. Chandi and Y. S. Pandha of PAU's entomology department were alleged accused of sexual assault by a female student from the same department.
To look into this matter a high powered committee was set up and Y.S. Pandha was found guilty whereas charges against R.Chandi couldn't be proved due to lack of evidence. As a temporary measure, Pandha has been transferred to Kapurthala's PAU research station.
Many former students have also reported harassment and misconduct and claimed that the university didn't take appropriate measures.
Students have reported similar incidents in the University from the past two years. This incident has left the entire country traumatised and people are questioning the safety of students in educational institutions.
This ongoing sexual harassment incident at PAU has put the spotlight on the urgent need to address the issue of sexual harrasment within the educational institutions and unveils the silent struggles of the students. The incident is receiving criticism nationwide. Many students and professors of other institutions tweeted about the same and demanded the proper justice for the students.
