BEST withdraws 400 buses after 3rd CNG bus catches fire
Regular BEST bus riders may experience a difficult time because the transportation company decided on Wednesday evening to remove 400 buses from Mumbai's roadways after yet another CNG bus caught fire.
This was the third occurrence of this kind in a month.Around 6:55 p.m., the bus, which was travelling on Route 415, caught fire after arriving at Agarkar Chowk outside of Andheri (E) railway station. Despite the bus being extremely crowded, the fire broke out just as everyone got off.
While investigations are ongoing, officials stated that an engine spark was most likely to blame for the incident.
"In view of recent incidents of fire in TATA CNG buses operated by M/S Mateshwari Urban Transport Ltd BEST has decided to take all these 400 buses off road until the OEM & operator take necessary corrective measures to ensure that such incidents will not happen in the future," the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) wrote in a tweet announcing the decision.
