Air Quality Index dropped in most cities of Punjab and Haryana
After the Diwali celebration, Punjab and Haryana witnessed something which was not so pleasant. A drop in the Air Quality Index of many cities of the two states was recorded.
The AQI of cities fell in the poor and very poor quality brackets. According to the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) data the AQI of Gurugram in Haryana and Ludhiana in Punjab was reported 313 and 269 respectively.
The AQI in Chandigarh was 178. In cities like Amritsar, Jalandhar, Faridabad, Dadri, Bhiwani was recorded at 249, 260, 311, 291, 241 respectively.
The reason for this quality drop was the crackers and farm fires in both the states.
