The 16 demands for which the members of Panjab University unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) went for a hunger strike on Tuesday met and discussed by the concerned authorities of the university.
The demands which claim to seek student welfare include issues such as enhancing security system, provision of dispensary and other basic facilities in the south campus, separate section for research scholars in central library, opening of girls hostel no. 11 among others.
Earlier, they also staged a protest outside the office of vice chancellor for these demands.
This year ABVP seems to have a different strategy for elections as they were sticking to these 16 demands initially. However, the opposition claimed that this was pre planned and authorities favoured them but ABVP came back by mentioning that everyone knows who work day and night in the past one year for student welfare.
