In an unfortunate event on the morning of Rakshabandhan, 3 soldiers of Indian army lost their lives in what seems to be an attempted suicide attack on an army operating base, 25 kms from Rajouri.
An encounter broke out soon after, where both the terrorists were shot dead, leaving 5 jawans injured in the retaliation. An officer was also amongst the injured and is currently under treatment. The counter operation is declared officially concluded by Indian army with Lt. Gen Manjinder Singh (16 corps commander) leading the monitoring and surveillance efforts.
According to the Army, both the terrorists were trying to sneak past Pargal post in Rajouri under the cover of darkness when they were caught by Indian Army troops which led to a gun fight. All the security agencies are put on high alert in view of suspected infiltration as the 75th Independence Day approaches.
